The Task Force to End Chronic Homelessness (TECH) held a town meeting at Horace Mann Language Magnet Sunday afternoon. The task force was put together just over a year ago in an attempt to end homelessness locally.

In their year of research, they identified several gaps in services, including the lack of permanent housing with supportive services. Over a four month span in the winter, they also found that there was a bed shortage over 60% of the time.

The town hall meeting helped brainstorm for ideas they want to include in a plan to end chronic homelessness. TECH hopes the plan will lead to more government funding to help provide the services they lack.

As for Mike.....most of us have jobs and support our own.

Instead of sitting around in your comfortable chairs studying the homeless problem. Get out there and live with them and see what it is really about.

Just like we've been trying to fix chronic poverty since the 60's and all we've created is a welfare state. We, the taxpayers, have had billions of dollars of our money thrown away building housing trying to provide a decent and civil environment for people to live only to have them trashed and destroyed because money does not fix the root problem of people's choices to live that way. Yes, there are some homeless who just need a break but most need a change of habit and lifestyle and throwing money at them will just support there bad choices at our expense. There's an old saying, "You reap what you sow" and that is what has happened for many who are homeless.

That's right people....the government is the answer to everything! Why don't we all just sit back and let uncle Sam do it!
