A former Salina Church employee plead guilty Thursday to one count of theft and one count of computer crime. Sherri Seiler, 40, of Salina, was an administrative assistant for Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church for about 4 years before her arrest in May, 2009. The money was stolen over the 4 year period, prosecutors proved. The crime was uncovered during an internal church audit.

While working at the church located in the 1000 block of Burr Oak Lane in Salina, Seiler wrote 81 checks to herself and used the church computer to add additional retirement and medical benefits to herself. The loss to the church was more than $68,000.

Seiler appeared before Judge Patrick Thompson at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Saline County District Court. Sentencing is scheduled for August 30th.
