Carol Mould was murdered inside her rural Benton home three years ago this week. Investigators still won't say how she died, but they admit her body was set on fire after she was killed. Her killer has never been found.

Mould was murdered on September 22nd, 2004. This was during a time in Wichita where the BTK task force was furiously trying to catch Dennis Rader. In fact, BTK commander Ken Landwehr was asked to come to the scene of Mould's murder just to take a look. Sheriff Murphy
insists that decision had nothing to do with BTK.

In fact, Sergeant Kelly Herzet says, "Ken has investigated hundreds of homicides. I've only investigated six. It only made sense to ask him for his ideas." But the fact that Landwehr showed up at the Mould murder scene entirely outside his jurisdiction fueled speculation about whether
BTK could have been involved.

Just three months ago, Butler County investigators made a trip to Rader's El Dorado prison cell. Their intent was to ask him questions about Mould's murder. Herzet won't comment on what Rader said, but says Rader was cooperative.
