A federal judge has refused to quash a statement to investigators from a former Wichita city court employee charged with taking bribes.

Kaylene Pottorff faces trial Aug. 10 on charges of taking bribes to change city court records for bond agents Alicia Bell and Jessie Garland.

U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten ruled Wednesday that Pottorff's statements to agents during a three-hour interview were freely made because she was told repeatedly she could leave at any time.

The judge also refused to toss out evidence collected from a search of her home.

Bell has pleaded guilty in a deal with federal prosecutors.
