Tornado warnings popped up across east-central Kansas amid powerful storms Tuesday evening, but no damage has been reported.
The National Weather Service in Topeka says a tornado was spotted in Coffey County around 7:30 p.m. just south of the small town of Gridley. Emergency management officials said there was no damage.
Just to the east in Anderson County, a storm chaser reported a funnel cloud around the same time five miles north of Lone Elm.
The warnings came as thunderstorms continued over much of eastern Kansas.
In Greenwood County, nearly 3 inches of rain fell in one hour Tuesday evening near the town of Eureka. That storm produced large hail and winds gusting up to 69 mph.
