An eighth person has pleaded guilty in a Medicaid fraud scheme involving home health care billings in southeast Kansas.

Thirty-eight-year-old Shannon Menzer of Cherryvale pleaded guilty Tuesday in Labette County District Court to making a false Medicaid claim, conspiracy to make a false Medicaid claim and two counts of providing false information.

Under her plea agreement, Menzer is required to repay more than $18,000 to the state's Medicaid program. She will be sentenced Dec. 3.

The defendants have been ordered to repay nearly $90,000 to the state Medicaid program.

Prosecutors say the investigation involved home health care billings by several employees and independent care providers who used the Southeast Kansas Independent Living Center as their payroll agent. Charges are pending against three other people.
