July 26 - A Wichita woman is raped and murdered in her apartment five years ago, leaving police searching for her attacker.

For years, police have been trying to determine who killed Tina Jo Frederick. Now after five years with no clues, Wichita police believe they've solved this cold case. We now know more about what happened the night of Nov. 11, 1999.

Judy Arnett is the manager of the apartments where Tina Jo Frederick lived. Arnett says she will never forget what she found in Tina Jo's apartment the morning of Nov. 12, 1999.

"I pushed the door back and she was laying at my feet," says Judy. "Her hair was askew and there was blood in her hair and the more I observed I could tell she wasn't alive."

But finding out who killed the young woman would take years to figure out.

Now almost five years later, a break in the case. A communication received by the district attorney's office back in Feb. linking 24-year-old Achaz Alford to the case.

Police believe Tina had come home after working second shift and was doing laundry when she met Alford. They say later that night Alford came to Tina Jo's apartment where he raped her, then shot her several times.

Alford is charged with premeditated first degree murder, rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery. And this isn't Alford's only run-in with the law.

Police say Alford also shot a Wichita man just a week after he allegedly killed Tina Jo. He is currently serving time for that crime at the Kansas Department of Corrections.
