A Wichita resident may have had luck of the Irish on his side yesterday morning when purchasing lottery tickets. Robert Huffman, Jr. purchased a $2 Bonus Crossword instant scratch ticket, winning a $20,000 top prize!

“This is my first big win,” said Huffman. “I buy tickets every day before work. I usually wait until I’m on break before scratching them.”

However this time, Huffman didn’t scratch his $20,000 winning ticket at work.

“When I bought the Crossword ticket, I also purchased a few $1 games,” said Huffman. “I scratched the $1 tickets while I was on break and got frustrated when I didn’t win. I decided to wait before playing the Crossword, so I folded the ticket and stuck it in my pocket.”

At the end of the day, Huffman remembered he hadn’t scratched his ticket yet.

“When I got home, I scratched my ticket and couldn’t believe I had been carrying around a $20,000 winner,” said Huffman. “I was totally shocked. We don’t have this kind of luck.”

Huffman and his wife Deanna, who have been married 15 years, have four children. They plan to save their winnings for retirement.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro America 1, located at 2700 N. Amidon in Wichita.
