Kansas governor Mark Parkinson is expected to sign a statewide smoking ban into law Friday. It will take effect July 1st. The law will ban smoking in all public places, including bars, restaurants, and businesses.

Excluded are private clubs, tobacco shops, and the gaming floors of state owned casinos. But what about tribal owned casinos? There are currently five tribal owned casinos in Kansas, with talk of a tribal casino being built near Park City.

Our viewer, Tony, wanted to know if smoking will still be permitted in the tribal casino after July 1st. This answer comes from the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission. The answer is that smoking will still be allowed on the gaming floors of tribal owned casinos.

The new smoking ban will not apply to tribal owned casinos. If you have a good question, send it to me at news@kake.com.
