Leaders of Wichita's aviation industry are endorsing Wichita businessman Mike Pompeo in the Republican race to replace Rep. Todd Tiahrt in Congress.
Chief executive officers Jack Pelton from Cessna Aircraft, Jeff Turner from Spirit Aerosystems and Bill Boisture from Hawker Beechcraft Corp., are scheduled to attend a "Wingmen for Pompeo" luncheon Thursday in Wichita.
Pompeo is one of five GOP candidates seeking to replace Tiahrt, who is giving up the seat he's held since 1995 to run for the U.S. Senate.
The other Republican candidates are state senators Dick Kelsey and Jean Schodorf and businessmen Jim Anderson and Wink Hartman.
State Rep. Raj Goyle of Wichita is the leading Democratic candidate in the race.
