A machiniists union official confirms that jobs from the closing Hawker Beechcraft plant in Salina will not be coming to Wichita. Machinists union district President Steve Rooney said half of the jobs will go to Hawker's plant in Mexico, and the other half will go to suppliers and vendors.

Hawker announced last November that the Salina plant would close as part of the company's consolidation plans. Hawker Beechcraft has more than 200 employees in Salina. At the time Hawker asked machinists union leaders to make a business case for relocating the jobs to Wichita.

Hawker's lease in Salina runs through February of 2012.
