About 6,000 people gathered to hear Sarah Palin speak at the Salina Chamber of Commerce Banquet Friday night.

The event began at 6 p.m Friday with cocktails and dinner. at the Bicentennial Center in Salina. Tickets to the event were sold out.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is the keynote speaker for the event.

Palin will pay a visit to Wichita on May 2 for a Bethel Life School fundraiser. The fundraiser will be held at the Intrust Bank Arena. The date and cost of tickets have not yet been announced.
