Park City officials have agreed to settle the city's part of a lawsuit with Sedgwick County over jail fees it hadn't paid since 2008. In the agreement, Park City will pay a little over 25% of what was previously owed to Sedgwick County.

Previously, Park City just over $139,000 in fees and interest, but will now pay only $36,450 to settle their bill. They will also begin paying their fees on time.

In January 2008, Sedgwick County began charging cities an hourly fee to house inmates with municipal charges to reduce overcrowding of the jail.

The county's lawsuit continues against Bel Aire, Goddard, Haysville and Wichita, which the county contends owe more than $7 million. Other cities also have outstanding balances, but they were not included in the lawsuit because they owed less than the cost of the lawsuit.
