An anti-abortion group will try this year to get voters to remove at least one Kansas Supreme Court justice from the bench.

Mary Kay Culp, executive director of Kansans for Life, says the group will campaign against Justice Carol Beier and perhaps other Supreme Court justices.

She said the campaign would be announced during a rally Friday to mark the 37th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing most abortions.

Abortion opponents are upset with Beier over majority opinions she wrote in abortion cases in 2006 and 2008.

Justices are appointed by the governor but stand for retention every six years. Beier and three other justices will be on the ballot in November.

Court spokesman Ron Keefover said he was unaware of the group's campaign.
