The Wichita Public Schools will be IN SESSION for Thursday, January 7. In a statement, a USD 259 spokesperson said "While certainly cold this morning, the wind chill and anticipated temperatures do not fall below the safety threshold. All of our buildings have power, and Durham School Services has already begun to prepare buses for morning transport."

"Please remind viewers/listeners/readers to make sure their child is dressed appropriately for the cold weather. For children who ride the bus, we would advise keeping students inside or wait with your child at the stop in a car until the bus arrives if at all possible."

Several districts have decided to cancel classes for Thursday. Others will have a late start.
