The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office has arrested four men in connection with a string of heavy equipment battery thefts.

In December 2009, Sedgwick County saw an increase in the theft of batteries from farm machinery, semi trucks and earth-moving equipment.

Investigators believe that the suspects are also responsible for a large number of thefts not yet discovered or reported.

Citizens of western Sedgwick County are encouraged to check their heavy equipment for missing batteries and their outbuildings for missing tools.

Victims of these types of theft should call 911 to file a report.
