Woman Injured In Timbers Fire Dies
A fire that sent a Wichita woman to the hospital with severe injuries started after the woman lit a cigarette, fire officials said.

A Wichita woman has died, days after being injured in a fire at the Timbers Apartments, 2021 N. Old Manor
The Wichita Fire Department said the 55-year-old woman was laying in her bed Monday, lighting a cigarette, when the bed caught fire. The victim was disabled, which kept her from escaping the blaze.
An sprinkler system contained most of the fire before fire crews arrived. The apartment complex suffered mostly smoke and water damage. The fire caused about $4,000 in damage.
The victim was rushed to a Wichita hosptial burn unit in critical condition.
