I-70 near Salina is wet at this hour, but road crews are preparing for up to six inches of snow.
Travelers stopping for a break at a Salina truck stop tell KAKE News that coming from the north and west was not easy.
"It was slushy when you crossed over the other lane. There were a couple of cars off in the ditch," said Robert Dowdy who drove in from Denver.
KDOT says it will treat the roads with salt, hoping to keep the snow melting. Road crews are split so there will be trucks running all night and all day Christmas Eve.
