Sedgwick County EMS paramedics are heading back to the classroom … at the INTRUST Bank Arena.

Any location where crowds gather can be a challenge for emergency responders; seating configurations, angles, ingress and egress create a learning opportunity for emergency responders, including EMS.

If a guest experiences a medical emergency during an event, Sedgwick County EMS is learning how to most efficiently and effectively reach and treat the patient.

Sedgwick County EMS will be on-site during events at the arena. Any crew working an event will have completed the mandatory training that includes:

* Mobilizing patients who are seated in various sections and levels throughout the arena using new extrication equipment
* Orientation and logistics training within and around the arena
* Reviewing general patient care within the new requirements of the facility
