Flash Flooding in Mulvane, Sumner County
Five inches of rain in less than two hours spelled disaster for Mulvane Thursday night. Several business on Main Street were flooded, including RD's bar, and streets were shut down.

5-10-07 - Five inches of rain in less than two hours spelled disaster for Mulvane Thursday night. Several business on Main Street were flooded and streets were shut down.

The National Weather Service issued flood warnings for Sumner and Sedgwick counties around 5pm. Storms Thursday evening dumped over 5 inches of rain in Mulvane over a very short period of time.

Several streets were shut down, still many cars and trucks refused to heed the warnings.In the Main Street district water rushed in to four businesses, including RD's bar.

Sumner Co. Emergency Management says the main flooding in Mulvane is on the west side of town. Highway 53 coming into Mulvane (on west side) is barricaded at the railroad tracks.
