The vacant Cinemas West theater in West Wichita will once again be filled, but not by moviegoers. Instead, the theater will accommodate GracePoint Church. The church closed on the purchase of the building on Thursday.

The building, located at 9035 West Central, used to be the only theater on the west-side of town and a major anchor tenant to the Westlink Shopping Center.

Bryson Butts, the lead pastor, expects the church will hold its first worship service in the new location during the second half of 2010.

The church will will have an auditorium that can seat 550 adults.
