In a world of confusing diets and villainous junk foods, 10 ingredients stand above all others in the fight against fat.
No longer must daunted dieters count calories, with these ten foods, they can now eat more to weigh less.
The pressure to be thin and fit is everywhere. Debbi Weaver has tried to lose weight several times but dreads getting on another diet.
"It's very frustrating," Weaver says.
How about eating a lot of food and losing a lot of weight. Dietitians at
Self.com say there are super foods that can make you burn more calories and curb cravings.
Steak. Red meat has a bad reputation as a diet buster, but eating it may help you peel off the pounds. In a recent study women on a diet that included red meat lost more weight than those eating equal calories.
Eggs. Dietitians say egg protein is filling so you eat less later in the day.
Oats, almond butter and lentils. All of these foods are known to be bonafide belly flatteners. Eating them helps prevent insulin spikes that cause your body to create excess fat--especially in the belly area.
Apples. This fruit can help you feel full and the antioxidants in apples may help prevent metabolic syndrome, a condition marked by excess belly fat or having an "apple shape".
Blueberries. Packed full of antioxidants, the fiber in this tasty fruit may actually prevent some of the fat you do eat from being absorbed.
Pomegranates. In addition to be loaded with foliate and disease fighting antioxidants, pomegranates are loaded with are low in calories and high in fiber. They can help satisfy your sweet tooth.
Plain Yogurt. A recent study shows people on a low calorie diet that included yogurt lost 61 percent more fat overall and 81 percent lower body fat.
Sardines. The sardine is high in protein and loaded with Omega 3s which also help the body maintain muscle.
Debbie says she's ready to load her grocery cart with super foods so she can stay healthy and fit into that super dress.
