Wichita Police say the 44-year-old man who was shot in the head by his wife during a domestic dispute has died.

John Hazelton was shot in the head Friday morning at a west Wichita home in the 12000 block of West 19th Street.

Police say Hazelton and his wife had been separated when he visited the home early Friday and was shot during an argument. Melinda R. Hazelton, 43, is being held on a charge of first degree murder in the Sedgwick County Jail. Police say she was originally charged with aggravated battery.

Police say the couple's 16-year-old daughter was downstairs at the time of the shooting.
