Newton School Kids Targeted By Stranger

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Newton police say a man tried to lure elementary and middle school students into his car as they walked home from school Tuesday.

Authorities said the man offered the kids money. The school district said the man then exposed himself to the children.

The kids did the right thing and ran away and told their parents.

"It's very disconcerting. You don't want anyone preying on our kids," said Newton Superintendent John Morton.

The school district sent letters home to parents warning them to remind the students of stranger danger.

Police and sheriff's officers will be keeping an eye on the schools to make sure it doesn't happen again.
