Emporia State Student Athlete Dead After Motorcycle Accident
An Emporia State University student-athlete missing since Sunday was the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident North of Emporia.

An Emporia State University student-athlete missing since Sunday was the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident North of Emporia. Authorities identified the student as 24-year-old Samuel Jacob Williams, a junior from Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast).

The accident occurred Sunday afternoon near the K-99 intersection with Lyon County Road 190.

Authorities suspect Williams lost control of his motorcycle at a curve in the road, struck a sign, and was thrown from the vehicle.

Emporia State track coach David Harris said Williams was an All-American indoor and outdoor track athlete at Emporia State. He ran 60 meter indoor events and 200 meter outdoor events for the Hornets.
