Health officials confirm that the only Kansas resident infected with E-coli, related to a nation-wide beef recall, lives in Finney County.

The recall is of beef from the ConAgra Company. Authorities say one case of E.coli was reported in the southwest Kansas County in the last couple of weeks.

State health department spokesman Mike Heideman says the agency still is investigating how the victim was infected. Heideman says tests have confirmed the beef was among the 19 million pounds recalled.

Kansas law prohibits the state agency from identifying the person.

ConAgra has said it will pay medical costs of E.coli victims sickened by the same bacteria strain detected in the recalled meat.
