A Wichita student hit by a school bus Tuesday is improving at a local hospital. Wesley Medical Center lists Matthew Libby in fair condition.

Crews were called to Southeast High School after 3:15 p.m. Police said Libby was walking on a sidewalk when he crossed the entrance to one of the school's parking lots. Authorities say as he crossed, a school bus pulled out and struck him.

A spokesperson for USD 259 said it appeared the teen was run over by at least one of the bus' tires.

The bus driver was questioned by police and placed on administrative leave following the incident. Authorities say she has worked with Durham Bus Services since 1998.

The bus was filled with students, but no one on board was hurt. Police continue to investigate.
