A Garden City teenager accused of rape and murder will stand trial.

A judge has ruled that Joaquin De Anda, 18, is competent to stand trial after hearing from doctors and mental health officials.

16-year-old Julia Quintana of Deerfield was found in a trash bin in Garden City last December.

Some doctors had suggested De Anda may suffer from disorganized schizophrenia, making him incompetent to face a jury.

De Anda was arrested December 21st on alelgations of murder, rape, sodomy and obstruction of the legal process in Quintana's death
