The NAACP's Kansas chapter is demanding that a state legislator apologize publicly for a video criticizing Barack Obama that he called "RedNeck Rap" and posted online. Republican state Rep. Bill Otto replied Thursday that it's not going to happen.
In the video he posted last month, Otto criticizes President Obama while
wearing a cap that calls opossum "the other dark meat." The NAACP called it tasteless and racist.
Otto has since revised the video to add an introduction saying the cap referred to his own hillbilly roots, not the president. Otto posted a sequel last week with some praise for President Obama.
But NAACP officials said those steps aren't enough. Otto said he has no reason to apologize and not everyone who criticizes President Obama is a racist.
