3-21-07 - The company behind the pet food recall can't explain why their product might be fatal. But Kansas pet owners are wondering if they'll be stuck with vet bills and the cost of their lost pets.
Kenzie Nixon and Adrian Johnson have two dogs they love very much. But Nixon says the pups are sick and she believes it’s from eating the recalled pet food.
“For about the past week and a half they have been vomiting. It's not the regular vomiting. It's very clear and foamy.”
KAKE Lawyer on the Line Roger Riedmiller says pet owners should document everything.
"Have medical bills, veterinary bills as a result of the food being consumed by the dog, then those bills are reasonable damage that should be paid by the responsible party.
There is no word yet from the company if they're willing to pay any of this. A few lawsuits have already been filed around the country.
Customers can contact Menu Foods at 1-866-895-2708. A list of the recalled brands and lot numbers can be found at the company's website.
