An autopsy report has confirmed that 15-month-old Evan Coen, who died Wednesday at Wesley Medical Center, had been abused. The man arrested in the case has been released from jail.
Police initially arrested Bradley Conger, the 25-year-old boyfriend of the little boy's mother. On Monday night, jail records showed he was no longer in custody. No charges have been filed in the case. Officials say the child's death remains under investigation and that charges could still be filed at a later time.
Police said the boy was taken by ambulance from a home in the 6500 block of W. Renee Ct. October 19th after an aunt called 911 to report he was not breathing.
The autopsy confirmed the physician's determination that the toddler suffered from severe trauma and several skull fractures.
The skull fractures were found to be in various stages of healing, indicating possible previous abuse.
