Charges have been filed in municipal court against the owner of a Wichita day care center whose license was suspended yesterday after being arrested for DUI.

Margaret Walker was charged this morning with second offense DUI, DUI with children under the age of 14 in the vehicle, no driver's license, driving on a suspended license and driving with a child under 4 not in a child restraint.

Walker's arraignment has been set for November 13th.

A Wichita day care center has had its license suspended, after the owner was arrested for DUI with day care children in her vehicle. Margaret Walker was also driving on a suspended drivers license.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued the emergency suspension order against Creative Connections Learning Center, 11818 W. Central.

Investigators were called to the center Friday, after employees reported the owner came to the facility smelling of alcohol. Sheriff's officers were called when the owner left the day care center taking seven children with her on a field trip. Wichita Police stopped the owner for DUI and driving on a suspended license.

The owner of the center, Margaret E. Walker, has 15 days to request a hearing on the suspension of her day care license.

Parents tells KAKE News they are shocked at the thought of their children being in the care of someone who police say was intoxicated. Shawn Salas takes his toddler to the daycare.

"You expect them to take care of them, be their shield of armor. She put them in harm," said Salas.
