The Yates Center Police Department and the Woodson County Sheriff are jointly investigating a number of bizarre incidents where green or clear small baggies or zip-lock packets (approx. 1.25" x 1.25") are being discovered on city streets in Yates Center. The packets' contents so far have tested positive for cocaine.

The most bizarre incidents, besides finding cocaine on city streets, are that baggies were discovered in front of homes belonging to law enforcement officers.

The Yates Center Police Department and the Woodson County Sheriff are alerting the public, especially school-age children, not to touch the packets. Any discovered packets are to be immediately reported to law enforcement.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been contacted for assistance in the investigation.
