The heavy rain which caused widespread road flooding in Wilson County early Wednesday morning has ended, and flash flood waters have receded in most areas.

As a result, the Wilson County Emergency Operations Center has been closed, although emergency responders will continue to monitor conditions closely. Emergency Manager Rick Brown estimates that there has been 7-8” of rain over the past 24 hours. Fall River is expected to crest at about 26 feet later today, which is low-moderate flood stage.

The SKO Railroad tracks have been washed out at Neodesha near Water Plant Road, and train traffic has been stopped until repairs are made. There have been several reports of stranded vehicles in the county, but no injuries have been reported.

Additional rain is possible throughout the area for the next several days, so driving conditions may continue to be hazardous at times. Travelers are advised to stay alert for changing conditions, and to avoid driving into any water over the roadway.
