23 year-old Mallory Jennings is on cloud nine, or should we say over the moon, as she walks across the Wichita State campus.
"I just got an official job offer from NASA Johnson Space Center, " said Jennings with a huge grin on her face.
Since the spring of 2007, Mallory has been interning with NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Her first mission, working in Mission Control monitoring the International Space Station.
She can't remember a time she didn't want to be an astronaut, getting her pilots license at 16. She's wanted to fly since second grade.
"I always wanted to be an explorer and female astronauts are always pushing the boundaries," said Jennings.
The job offer came last week. Mallory will be working on the new space suit for the 2020 moon landing.
She will get her mechanical engineering degree in May of 2010 and start her new job and new life at NASA in the summer.
