Grant County Attorney Robin Hathaway filed charges against Marco Lomas of Ulysses in the death of Marcos and Hilda Garcia on August 30, 2008.

Lomas was charged with one count capital murder for killing the couple during same act. He was also charged with Aggravated Burglary for entering their home with the intent to commit a felony.

The bodies of 33-year-old Marcos Garcia and his 34-year-old wife, Hilda, were found in a mobile home where they had lived for less than a year. Their deaths were the first homicides in the southwest Kansas community of 6,000 in more than a decade.

Local and state officials said a month after the killings that they were trying to locate a Hispanic man who was a "person of interest" in the case.

Lomas' first appearance is scheduled for tomorrow, August 25 at 1:00 p.m. in Ulysses.
