Dodge City police arrest a teenager wanted in connection with a weekend shooting that sent two people to the hospital.

Eighteen-year-old Rudy Gonzales was arrested on two counts of first degree murder, among other charges.

The shooting happened in the 200 block of E. McArtor around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Police found 31-year-old Gabriel Reyes Lopez suffering from gunshot wounds inside the residence. The victim was taken to Western Plains Regional Hospital for treatment by Ford County Fire & EMS.

A second victim 38-year-old Jose Lopez arrived at the hospital by a private vehicle. He was also treated for gunshot wounds.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said robbery appears to be the motive in the shooting.

Two Dodge City residents were injured during a shooting early Sunday.

Officers from the Dodge City Police Department and Ford County Sheriff's Department responded to a call in the 200 block E. McArtor, Lot No. 6 after reports of a shooting at about 1am.

Upon their arrival they found 31-year-old Gabriel Reyes Lopez, Dodge City resident, suffering from gunshot wounds. Lopez was taken to Western Plains Regional Hospital for treatment by Ford County Fire & EMS.

While officers were at Western Plains Hospital when 38-year-old Jose Lopez arrived by private vehicle.
