Two people were killed in a head-on collision on US-400 in Butler County last night. The accident happened after 9:00 p.m. near Leon.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said a westbound SUV driven by Michael West of Choctaw, Oklahoma was trying to pass two vehicles. An eastbound station wagon swerved to avoid the SUV and the vehicles collided.
West and the station wagon driver, Gary Smith, 50, of Springfield, Missouri died in the crash. There were no passengers in either car.
