A Hugoton man is behind bars after killing his mother, investigators said.
Sheriff Ted Heatson said authorities arrested 25-year-old Michael Maestas Saturday, after he called 911 and told them he stabbed his mother, 52-year-old Lorenza Maestas.
The Stevens County coroner pronounced Lorenza dead at the scene.
Michael was arrested for murder and is currently being held in the Stevens County law enforcement center.
