A judge says a tv commercial that created a legal issue in a multiple murder case isn't cause enough to move the trial out of Wichita.
A Virginia group, Law Enforcement Alliance of America, paid for the commercial. It attacks David Adkins, who is seeking the Republican nomination for Kansas attorney general.
The spot says Reginald Carr of Wichita murdered four people after his parole was cut short. It says Adkins led the effort to release offenders like Carr.
But Carr won't go on trial until next month. And his lawyers told Judge Paul Clark today the commercial must have influenced potential jurors.
Clark denied a change of venue. He says the spot ran not only in the Wichita area, but also in Kansas City -- where defenders want the trial moved.
