Western Kansas Teen Killed In Crash

Isaac Korf of Kinsley died from a car crash while traveling northbound on 233 Road in Hodgeman County . Authorities say he didn't stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle. Korf was not wearing a seat belt.

He was transported to a Wichita hospital and died from his injuries. No one else was hurt in the accident.

Jetmore, Kinsley Complete Class To Keep Viable

A new program coming to Western Kansas may help rural communities stay alive.

Jetmore and Kinsley joined cities from Central Kansas in a program called "Rural Kansas: Come and Get It." The two-day class is designed to help rural towns like Jetmore with social networking, photography, and web site maintenance.

More classes will be held across Kansas including a September session in Norton and one in Ulysses in October. Creators of the class are hoping it will keep rural communities viable.

Fun Continues At Dodge City Days

Dodge City continues to "Raise a Ruckus" for the week-long Dodge City Days festival. On Saturday, thousands of residents lined 2nd Ave. for the Western Parade that marked the unofficial beginning to all the fun.

Monday night, the activities continue with a carnival in Wright Park, a teen dance at the community college, and a southern gospel concert at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Goodland Prepares For PBR Event

Tickets are selling fast for a much-anticipated national event coming to Northwest Kansas.

The Western Plains Chute Out Professional Bull Riders event highlights the Northwest Kansas district fair next week in Goodland. The fair expects some of the top-name bull riders in the country to participate.

Workers are setting up extra bleachers to accommodate the large interest. The August 5th event will see 40 riders perform, 10 of whom will ride a second time in the finals.
