It might be hot but terrible temperatures aren't testing the true golf fans.
On Saturday the temperatures topped out at 93 degrees in Hutchinson and the course was more than three miles long. The 21-thousand spectators at the U-S Women's Open braved the conditions and followed their favorite golfers the whole way.
Rick Hatfield of Larned says it was worth it to see the great Annika Sorenstam play every hole. Sorenstam has sole possession of
the lead going into today's final round. Hatfield won't be there to
cheer her on though, he'll be watching on at home.
The heat isn't driving fans to affect the pace of play either. Hutchinson police report few problems with crowd control. Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson says the fans are polite and respectful. . ."a breath of fresh air."
