Until you understand the workings & high expense/liability of operating a pawn shop, don't dis them for making a linving. It's tough work! Rates are regulated by government. Thank heavens the less fortunate have someplace to turn for money legally. In these times, it's tough to sell anything, so loan values on goods have been less than before. And, these people are running out of things to pawn!
When people are down on their luck, there is alway someone to take advantage of them.
Aah Obamanomics 101, rule number 1."I want something for nothing"! The owners of these business are what they are, if it were not for idiots who can not live within their means they deserve these usery rates. If you can not pay your bills with your current lifestile, you then need to downsize. Live in a low rent studio apartment, riding the bus, no cell phone, cable, internet, don't smoke or drink, don't eat out, get your clothes from Goodwill, & work three jobs a week. Like my kids you may not like this advise but I love everyone & wish them the best, take this advise & you will dig yourself out of the mess you are in & will come out a better person on the other side. However if you try the easy way (and their is none), getting a payday loan or worse yet getting on the government tit you become a slave.
I will never take any sort of payday loan out. I ended up taking one 2 years ago. A big one to pay the remainder of my rent. I than had a take out a smaller one to help me out with current bills because of the money it costs to take out the first one. Than i took out a 3rd because of the money i was losing from the first 2. I payed over 2,000 in INTEREST before i quit paying and they just went to collections. When my income tax came a year later, I payed off 2. The bigger 2. The smaller one i was making payments on and since i didnt have the ammount they wanted every 2 weeks, they just sent me to COLLECTIONS. I was mad because i was at least paying them @$$holes. So i stopped paying on that. I now have to go to court July 17th over the last one. STEALERS.. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER DO THAT. Its a process that you cant get out of. A girl i knew had 6 of them out, and every payday she spent her day running around just paying the loans, re-writing checks for them and still had no money.
120% APR is a loan shark in my book. Bruce Harris, owner of AOK pawn shop, sips fine wine, praying on the poor of Wichita. A good man?
