A former Derby school board member has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty in a sex case.

John Roberts, 67, pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor counts of Lewd & Lascivious behavior during a hearing in Sedgwick County Court Tuesday morning.

Roberts was arrested in May after neighbors complained that he exposed himself on several occasions. Roberts resigned from the school board a few days after his arrest.

Sedgwick County District Court Judge Ben Burgess sentenced Roberts to five years probation. Roberts must also register as a sex offender.
