Police have new information in the shooting that left a teen dead.

Police say they were called out to the 2200 block of S. Ellis at 5 p.m. Sunday where they found 16-year-old Eric Aleman shot.

They say Aleman and a 17-year-old friend were playing with a handgun in a basement bedroom when the gun fired.

Aleman was hit once in the head and later died at the hospital.

The 17-year-old was booked in the juvenile detention facility on possible charges of involuntary manslaughter.

The District Attorney's Office is set to decide this week what charges to file, if any.

According to a police spokesman, the teenage boy who was shot in the head Sunday afternoon died from his injuries around 10:15 Sunday night.

The shooting happened near Pawnee and Hydraulic Sunday afternoon. Police blocked off the 2200 block of S. Ellis to begin the investigation.

Emergency dispatchers say they received a call from a residence in that neighborhood reporting that a boy had been shot.

Friends say the boy was shot while walking down the street. They claim a car full of men drove up, stopped, and one man jumped out and shot their friend. They say the car then sped away.
