Wichita police are investigating the shooting of a woman in South Wichita.

911 dispatchers say it happened just after 3:30 Saturday morning on Harry Street between Hydraulic and I-135. Police say a 20-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in critical conditions. Emergency dispatchers tell KAKE News the woman died a short time later.

Police say the woman was getting a ride home with several acquaintances when she was fired on by suspects in a car that pulled up along the driver's side of the vehicle in which she was a passenger. Police at the scene say multiple shots were fired, but only the one victim was hit. Other passengers in the car were not injured.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim, and say they have yet to identify any suspects in the case.
