KAKE news anchor and reporter Jeff Herndon announced on Friday night that he was staying in Wichita, and would continue to anchor and report for KAKE News.
Jeff made the following statement on KAKE News at Ten:
"Last week, it was reported that I was leaving. Since then, I realized I
belong in Wichita. So, I'm staying at KAKE.
Kansas is where I want to be, and I'm grateful KAKE welcomed me back with open arms. I look forward to being here every night with my co-anchor Susan Peters.
I want to thank everyone who wrote letters and e-mail's of support. It made all the difference. Thank you."
Jeff grew up in Wichita and is a graduate of Campus High School. He holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Wichita State University.
His career at KAKE began in 1997 as a part-time sports photographer. In July of 2000, he moved to Topeka, and became the weekend sports anchor for the ABC affiliate, KTKA channel 49. After a year in Topeka, he returned to his hometown as the weekend sports anchor at KAKE. In January of 2004, Jeff joined the KAKE news team. He co-anchors KAKE News at 6 and 10 with Susan Peters.
