A Kansas judge has sentenced a southwest Nebraska man to nearly six years in Kansas prison for indecent acts with two young girls.

Gary Hartwell of McCook was sentenced last week to 5 years and 8 months in prison on two counts of felony aggravated indecent solicitation of a child.

Hartwell pleaded guilty to those two charges as part of a deal with prosecutors.
Norton County Assistant County Attorney Karen Griffiths says Norton had been charged with four counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a minor.

The charges relate to incidents with two different girls between 2006 and last October. Hartwell has been in custody since December.
