A new type of ultralight aircraft is being built right here in the air capitol, and it is about to hit the market.

The Belite Airplane is stronger and lighter than a conventional airplane. It is a new type of plane that meets FAA demands and is soon to hit Wichita Skies.

James Weibe is a long time aviation enthusiast and a Kansas based entrepreneur. Now, he is jumping into a new business venture. He and his wife Kathy are the new owners of the manufacturing rights and assets to a former light aircraft and are reintroducing it with weight saving technology here in the air capitol.

The entire wing, Weibe said, weighs a mere 20 pounds and can be lifted with just 2 fingers.

Weibe said the FAA has been cracking down on overweight ultralight airplanes, but using carbon fibers as building blocks, Weibe says this Belite wont be tipping any scales.

He says the plane also fills a niche Wichita is lacking, and is a plane all aviation enthusiasts will be happy to fly across the Kansas skies.
