Jefferson Elementary in El Dorado lost about one-third of its roof. Roofers spent the day clearing away the damage, getting ready for repair. Behind the school, on the football field, a light pole snapped and crashed into the bleachers.
Grandview Elementary also sustained roof damage.
The new high school, which is still under construction, was also hit by the storms. Storage units were blown on their sides, scaffolding was scattered and several windows were broken.
The school district says they’re not sure yet how much the damage will cost but say they are fortunate the schools were empty when the storms hit.
Also in El Dorado, high winds pulled the roof off the Beijing Restaurant.
